Why is this medication prescribed?
Azithromycin 500 tablets is a medicine that is used to treat certain bacterial infections. Such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and infections of the ears, sinuses, lungs, throat, skin, and reproductive organs. Azithromycin is also used to treat or prevent disseminated infection that often affects people with HIV. This medicine is called macrolide antibiotics. It stops the growth of bacteria.
Azithromycin 500 is an antibiotic but will not work for flu, colds, or other viral infections. When this type of medicine is not needed but we take these medicines it will increase the risk to cure the body when needed. Because if we take without need our body will habitual to this medicine by which our body doesn’t stop the growth of bacteria.
How should Azithromycin 500 tablets be used?
You can use Azithromycin 500 as a tablet. Usually, the tablets and suspension (Zithromax) are taken with or without food once a day for 1–5 days. When these tablets are used for the prevention of infection, take with or without food once weekly. On an empty stomach, this extended-release suspension (Zmax) is usually taken as a one-time dose. Take it around the same time every day to help you remember to take azithromycin. Use it as per the directions given in the medicines if you have any questions regarding this ask your doctor. Take azithromycin as per direction. Never take this medicine dosage more or less, proper dosage will be taken as directed by your doctor.
Before each dosage shakes the liquid properly by which the mixture mixed well. Use a dosing spoon, measuring cup, oral syringe to measure the proper quantity of medicine.
If you receive azithromycin as a powder for suspension (Zithromax) in a single dose. Then you have to mix it well before taking the medicine.
After taking Azithromycin if you vomit within half an hour then consult your doctor immediately. Then your doctor may prescribe you another dosage of the medicine. Do not take another dose of this medicine by yourself. Also, if you don’t see any improvement in your symptoms and it gets worse then must call your doctor.
